On Wednesday, 13 June 2018, the Charge d'affaires of South African Embassy, Ms. Soraya Jacobs, visited ECO Cultural Institute and met with Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, president of the Institute.
According to ECI news, Dr. Mazaheri spoke about the Institute's outstanding activities in various fields of public diplomacy including culture, art, literature, research, national museums, national libraries, and peace and environment and announced ECI readiness to cooperate in joint events.
During the meeting both sides discussed the possibilities of cooperation on holding the commemoration of Nelson Mandela entitled "The role of Mandela in World Peace" along with a photo exhibition of this prominent figure and a photo exhibition on tourist attractions, paintings and handicrafts of South African jointly with the cooperation of member states, participation of artists from ECO Region at Durban International Film Festival and South African Documentary Film Festival, organizing South African Film Week at ECI amphitheater, collaboration with ECO Universities on arts and humanities in South Africa, and joint publication of journals in English on culture, art and tourism of South Africa.
