H.E. Ms. Rafat Masood, the newly appointed ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Iran, met with Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, the ECI President, in the evening of Sunday August 19, 2018 at ECI headquarters.
According to ECI Public Relations, while welcoming Ms. Rafat Masood at the meeting, Dr. Mazaheri pointed to the Pakistan's important position as one of the three founding members of this regional union and staid: "through more cooperation, Pakistan could play a more significant role in ECI's cultural events."
Elsewhere at the meeting, the ECI President extended his congratulation for the appointment of the new Pakistani prime minister and highlighted that Imran Khan's upcoming visit to Iran could serve as a turning point in the development of more friendly relations among the regional countries, particularly those of the ECO region.
Elaborating upon his plans in the area of public diplomacy, Dr. Mazaheri added: "Ample opportunities for organizing joint collaborations among the member states in different areas of arts, culture, tourism, sports, national libraries and museums and cultural heritage are provided at ECI".
The ECI President further acknowledged the contributions of H.E. Ambassador Asif Ali Durrani, the ex-Pakistani Ambassador to Iran.
The new Pakistani ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm welcome by Dr. Mazaheri and also appreciated the scope of diverse programs being organized by ECO Cultural Institute, particularly during the incumbent administration of this international institution.
Ms. Rafat Masoud also underscored the importance of the area of culture in ECO region for the Pakistani government and emphasized on the readiness of the Embassy of Pakistan for more participation in the planned programs of the ECO Cultural Institute during her tenure.
At the end of the meeting, the new Pakistani ambassador visited the ECO Diplomatic Library and also 'Tehran Vogue' exhibition running at the ECO Diplomatic Art Gallery and Auditorium.
