Formation of ECO High Commission for Sport

At the multilateral meeting hosted by the Kish Free Zone Organization, Dr. Salehi Amiri, the chairman of the National Olympic Committee, lauded the initiative of Dr. Mazaheri, ECI president, and said: "Establishment of this high-profile sporting institution in the ECO region will be remarkable undertaking".
Speaking at the high-level sports forum, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, the ECI president, said: "The charter of this international body emphasizes on joint activities in the field of public diplomacy, including sports, that had not been taken this seriously in the past."
He added that the establishment of a joint cooperation office with the Kish Free Zone Organization has provided a good environment for holding various sports competitions and attracting tourists from countries.
Next, Deputy Sports Minister Mohammad, Reza Davarzani, talked on the different positive aspects of the multilateral coopeation of ECI, the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and the Kish Free Trade Zone and stated: "This international organization has provided a great opportunity to expand the Islamic Republic of Iran's sporting interactions with the countries of the ECO region."
Dr. Mozaffari, CEO of the Kish Free Trade Zone Organization, also welcomed presence of the head of the ECO Cultural Institute and the country's high-level sports officials, expressing hope that the multilateral meeting would pave the way for holding the first ECO tournament.
Dr. Seyed Abdolhamid Ahmadi, Deputy Sports Minister in Culture and Public Sports Development; as well as Rahimi and Shariati, were other speakers at the multilateral meeting, who emphasized on the implementation of the agreed provisions.
It is worth mentioning that at the meeting, the establishment of ECO High Commission for Sport was agreed to be represented by Dr. Mazaheri, Dr. Salehi Amiri, Davarzani, Dr. Mozafari, Shariati and Dr. Saeedi and hold monthly meetings.
