Iran's Rainbow Mountains Inscribed on National Heritage List
'Ala Daglar', or the colorful mountains and hills of Zanjan and Mahneshan in Zanjan Province, were inscribed on the list of National Natural Heritage of Iran as a manifestation of the nature's matchless marvel.

Speaking to the journalists, the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Zanjan Province said: "With the approval of the Inscription Council of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Ala Daglar, or the colorful mountains of Zanjan and Mahneshan which are eye-catching natural phenomenon dating to 15 million years ago, were inscribed on the list of national natural heritage of the country."
Due to their specific colors of red, brown, green, yellow, white and orange that emerge under special light conditions and particularly after a bit of rainfall that moistens the soil, these clay mountains and hills provide beautiful contrast which creates a perfect subject for photographers, filmmakers and nature tourists.
According to the directorate General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Zanjan Province, around 828 items including historical, cultural, natural and spiritual heritage of the province have been inscribed on the List of National Heritage.
