On December 27, 2020, the President of the ECO Cultural Institute met with the vice-president for the Development of International Cultural Relations of The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, Sarvar Bakhti, the ECI president, in the meeting, which was also attended by a number of ICRO directors, noted that in his meeting with Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkman, head of the IRCO held this year, the capacities of the two institutions were explored for the future cooperation.
He further expressed hope that the cooperation between the two sides will be developed in the near future.
ECI president also highlighted the capacities of the ICRO cultural advisors based in ECO countries, and announced that the ECO Cultural Institute is ready to cooperate with Iran's cultural advisors in ECO member countries.
In conclusion, Sarvar Bakhti expressed hope that through the expansion of joint cooperation between the two cultural organizations, the ground will be provided to accelerate the realization of common goals to introduce the culture, history and art of the peoples of the ECO region to the world.
Further at the meeting, Ghowli, the vice-president for the Development of International Cultural Relations of ICRO, welcomed the viewpoints of ECI president and said: "it is top priority to explore the possibilities to introduce the culture shared by the peoples in the region."
"We are devising guidelines for introducing the 2500-year-old culture of the ancient ECO region which can only be fulfilled through cultural programs ", he added.
Through reviving the ECO National Commission, implementation of joint cultural projects and cooperation in research issues with the focus on strengthening the Persian language along with celebrating the dignitaries in the ECO member countries were among the issues which were discussed and exchanged views by the two sides.
In conclusion, Ghowli called for the development of a future roadmap for cooperation between the two cultural organizations and reiterated that cultural advisers based in ECO countries will cooperate with the ECO Cultural Institute to achieve common goals.
