Başakşehir Claims 1st UEFA Champion League Victory
Medipol Başakşehir football team, the only Turkish representative in the UEFA Champions League, beat England’s Manchester United 2-1 to claim their first victory in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Playing at Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul, Medipol Basaksehir scored the opener with Senegalese star Demba Ba in the 13th minute.
Başakşehir increased the gap to 2 with a goal from Edin Višćain in the 40th minute.
Anthony Martial scored Manchester United’s only goal in the 43rd minute and the first half ended 2-1. The second half of the game ended without a goal and thus Başakşehir achieved its historic victory.
Başakşehir increased its score to 3 with its first victory in the group, and Manchester United remained at 6 points.
Başakşehir will face Manchester United in their fourth game in the group on Tuesday, November 24th.
