AMF Calls for Introducing Cultural Capacities of ECO Cities
On Tuesday April 20, 2021, Sarvar Bakhti, President of the ECO Cultural Institute and Goshtasb Mozaffari, Secretary General of the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) discussed the prospects of joint cooperation at the ECO Cultural Institute.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, Sarvar Bakhti in this meeting, while emphasizing the need to introduce the cultural, artistic, history and tourism capacities of ECO member countries, announced his readiness to expand cooperation with the Asian Mayors Forum.
In this regard, he said: “Issues of special journal of ECO Cultural Institute ‘ECO Heritage’ is dedicated to introduce the cities of the ECO region.”
The President of the ECO Cultural Institute also referred to the ECI cooperation with the International Deputy of Tehran Municipality in publishing ‘Tehran 1400’ magazine and said: “Creating regional convergence and empathy among the people and improving urbanization in Asia is an important mission of the ECO Cultural Institute.”
Goshtasb Mozaffari, Secretary General of the Asian Mayors Forum, welcomed the views of Sarvar Bakhti and referred to the sixth meeting of the Assembly of Asian Mayors in November 2021 and proposed holding a meeting of mayors of ECO member countries, which was appreciated by the President of ECO Cultural Institute. In conclusion, he noted: “All these efforts will be aimed at greater convergence and improving the level of welfare of the people and improving the urban life of the people of the region.”
Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) is an international non-governmental organization, non-profit network, founded in Tehran in 2008 following the proposal of Tehran Municipality to Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) which was approved in 2007. 75 Asian cities are members of this organization and its meetings have been held in Tehran, Istanbul, Bangkok, Manama, Haiku (China), Qazvin and Gaziantep (Turkey). The Asian Mayors’ Forum consists of seven specialized committees entitled Traffic and Transportation (mobility) of Asian Cities, Asian Smart Cities, Asian Resilient Cities, Asian Livable Cities, Asian Urban Tourism, Asian Women’s Cooperation Network and Cooperative Council Members Network.
