Abbas Karimi, Afghan swimmer living in the United States won the silver medal at the World Series in Texas.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, despite his disability, Abbas Karimi has won several competitions so far. Karimi won first place in the “World Series” competitions in three styles: 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly stroke.
The Afghan swimmer finished second in the 200m freestyle race, and won silver.
Abbas Karimi wrote on his Facebook page that he is presenting this achievement to 80 million immigrants worldwide.
115 swimmers from 20 countries participated in this competition. Abbas Karimi is the only disabled Afghan swimmer to compete in the Tokyo Paralympics.
