Dushanbe is making preparations to host the 4th Central Asian Climate Change Conference scheduled for July 25-26 this year.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Fars News Agency in Dushanbe, Bahodour Sheralizoda, Head of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan has met in Dushanbe with Irina Bekmirzayeva, Regional Coordinator of the Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin (CAMP4ASB).
The press center of the Committee for Environmental Protection says the two discussed issues related to completion of work on installation of seven automatic weather stations and preparations for the 4th Central, which is scheduled to take place in the Tajik capital from July 25-26 this year.
Sheralizoda reportedly expressed gratitude for the work carried out within the framework of the Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin.
He drew attention of representatives of the project to implementation of the planned events within the framework of the project.
The previous Third Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2020) was conducted online and took place in October 2020. The main objective of the conference was to strengthen a regional dialogue on climate change and sustainable development by promoting information and knowledge exchange in Central Asia. Other task of the conference was to raise awareness of the countries in the region on lessons, which addressing climate change, have been learned in times of pandemic (COVID-19).
The Conference is organized within the framework of the Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin and is a continuation of the World Bank’s initiative on climate change knowledge and regional information exchange in Central Asia launched in 2013. The events are called to foster a regional dialogue on climate change adaptation and mitigation, exploring opportunities for joint actions among Central Asia States and other key stakeholders.
