ECI honors the Iranian mountaineer Rashin Jahanbazi
In a ceremony held on December 12, 2021 at ECO Cultural Institute, Rashin Jahanbazi, the first Iranian mountaineer was honored for her conquering the highest summit of Central Asia.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, the event hosted by Sarvar Bakhti, President of the ECO Cultural Institute, was attended by Mojtaba Faqihi, Assistant Minister for Public Diplomacy and Media of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hasan Ghafourifard, head of the Inspection and Supervision Board of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Mohammad Ali Kiani, Director General of Cultural Cooperation and Iranian Affairs Abroad of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Bahrom Azimov, Second Secretary of Tajikistan Embassy, Iraj Hesabi, head of Professor Hesabi Foundation, Zahra Sadat Mousavi, Director General of the Women's Sports Coordination Office of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Mansoureh Gorji, Vice President of the Mountaineering Federation, Novin Afrooz, winner of the Albert Einstein Peace Prize, Kalaei, Director of the Ferdowsi Art House and a group of sport personalities. 
 Sarvar Bakhti in his opening remarks highlighted the significant role of sports diplomacy in the culture and sports development of countries saying: "Rashin Jahanbazi was able to prove to the representatives of other countries that Oriental women are special in our society".
He added: "We gathered today on the occasion of International Mountain Day (IMD) to honor Rashin Jahanbazi, the courageous woman mountaineer who ascended the highest peak in Central Asia, in Tajikistan. She was the first Eastern woman to conquer this high peak".
"This event is not only the honor of Iran but the honor of ECO countries and Eastern women. We aim to have more joint programs in the field of sports diplomacy", he added.
Sarvar Bakhti concluded: "In the near future, we will bring together a group of women mountaineers from ECO member countries to conquer other peaks and spread ECI`s message of peace and friendship among the nations."
In his turn, Hasan Ghafourifard, head of the Inspection and Supervision Board of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, referred to the efforts made over the past decades to promote women's sports in the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: "I am very happy to participate in an event today in which an Iranian mountaineer is honored in an international organization."
He also expressed his appreciation to Sarvar Bakhti, president of the ECO Cultural Institute, regarding the joint sports cooperation in the ECO region.
Mohammad Ali Kiani, Director General of Cultural Cooperation and Iranian Affairs Abroad of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, in his short remarks, expressed his organization's support for the expansion of sports diplomacy by the ECO Cultural Institute and congratulated Rashin Jahanbazi on her historic ascent.
Mojtaba Faqihi, Assistant Minister for Public Diplomacy and Media of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was another speaker at the ceremony who appreciated the attention paid by the ECO Cultural Institute to sports diplomacy and expressed the foreign ministry `s support to similar activities which will lead to the expansion of public diplomacy in the region.
Elsewhere in the ceremony, the second Secretary of the Tajik Embassy in Tehran, Bahrom Azimov, in his speech expressed hope that with the successful ascent of Rashin Jahanbazi, the high mountains of Tajikistan would be conquered more by Iranian mountaineers. Azimov also honored the Iranian mountaineer with a Somoni silver medal.
Zahra Sadat Mousavi, Director General of the Women's Sports Coordination Office of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, also praised such historic ascent and viewed sport as a factor to bring the youth closer to each other.
Mansoureh Gorji, Vice President of the Mountaineering Federation, also praised the support of Sarvar Bakhti, President of the ECO Cultural Institute, for women's sports and announced the Federation's readiness to cooperate more with the ECO Cultural Institute.
Iraj Hesabi, head of Professor Hesabi Foundation, also referred to Rashin Jahanbazi's action as one of the most important sport events of the year and indicated the cultural impact of the family on the success of this Iranian mountaineer.
Novin Afrooz, winner of the Albert Einstein Peace Prize, recited a poem called Damavand while praised Rashin Jahanbazi for her courageous action. 
It is worth mentioning that in the event, a video of Rashin Jahanbazi's ascent to the 7105-meter peak of Korzhenevskaya and the 7495-meter peak of Somoni and a music video of "Iran-e Man" were shown.
