The first round of the second edition of "Leader of the Nation" chess tournament was held at Tajikistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute, quoting Tajikistan's "Khovar" news agency, 30 employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated at the competition, 5 of which made their way to the next stage. At the inaugural, Khosrow Nazeri, Tajikistan's first deputy yo foreign minister, said: "Last year, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon proposed holding a chess tournament, that indicates the president's attention to the promotion of the game in the country." Nazeri further emphasized that this game is one of the oldest games in the world and requires knowledge, intelligence and memory as the most important features of this intellectual game.
