The Hyrcanian Forests is the first natural area of Azerbaijan that was registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List
The decision to include these forests in the UNESCO World Heritage List was made at the 45th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
