The first meeting between H.E. Dr Saad Khan and the Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Sayed Jalaledin Alavi, took place at the latter’s office.
The President-designate of the ECOCI conveyed warm felicitations of the ECO Cultural Institute to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on assumption of the chairmanship of the COM and welcomes the decision to hold the next COM in Tehran. H.E. Dr Khan also discussed the Institute’s plans for promotion and projection of common cultural heritage of the ECO member states. The President Khan opined that the ECO Cultural Institute stands in the same relationship with the Economic Cooperation Organization as the UNESCO has with the United Nations.
Director General Alavi warmly welcomed the President and wished him a pleasant stay during his tenure in Tehran. He expressed the hope that the President’s dynamic leadership coupled with his background in arts will go a long way in strengthening the Institute. He said that as the host nation of the ECO Institute, Iran will do its best to facilitate the Institute and extend support in its activities.
