According to Azartaj news agency, 704 films from 78 countries have been sent to the festival this year. The jury committee consisting of cinema professionals determined the screen works that compete in international, Asian and local talent competitions from among these films, so 42 films representing 32 countries participate in the international competition, 17 films in the "Asian Talents" competition and 26 films in the local competition to receive the main prize of the "Golden Pomegranate" festival. The films of the international competition are awarded the "Golden Fairy" award
Reza Mirkarimi, Farhad Sharif, Arjan Jomabayev, Mehraban Akbarzadeh, and other important cinema figures will be present in different parts of this festival as judges. During the festival, renowned cinema director Reza Mirkarimi will hold a specialized class on "Characteristics of an Eastern Director" and graphic designer Rasul Hasan will hold a lecture entitled "Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Cinema".
Baku International Short Film Festival brings to Azerbaijan the films that have won awards and success in Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Oscar festivals. "Nizami Cinema Center", "Azerbaijan Film" film studio, "State Film Fund", "British Council", "Azerbaijan Producers Guild", "Yunus Emre Institute" are among the sponsors of this festival.
The awarding ceremony of the winners will be held on November 15 at the Nizami Cinema Center.
