ECI Delegation Explores Yazd’s Historic Gems Amid ECO and ACD Member States Joint Meeting
In a remarkable display of cultural exchange and diplomatic collaboration, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Member countries convened for a two-day joint meeting in the World Heritage City of Yazd. The event, held on March 6-7, 2024, brought together ambassadors and representatives from countries spanning the region.
Dr. Saad S. Khan, ECI President, led the ECI delegation during this momentous occasion. Their visit extended beyond the conference halls, as they embarked on a journey to explore the rich historical heritage of Yazd. The ECI delegation’s itinerary included visits to several iconic landmarks, including Zarch Qanat, Vazir Water-mill, historical houses in Fahadan neighborhood, Jame Mosque, Clock Tower, Zoroastrian Fire Temple, Dowlatabad Garden, and Towers of Silence.
Amidst these cultural explorations, the ECO Secretary General and ACD Secretary General engaged in fruitful discussions with their counterparts, the Governor of Yazd Province, the Mayor of Yazd, and the Chairman of the Islamic City Council of Yazd. Ambassadors and representatives from Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan exchanged ideas on regional cooperation, economic development, and sustainable partnerships.
The joint meetings served as a bridge between nations, fostering understanding and strengthening ties. Yazd crowned ACD tourism capital in 2024.
