The college was founded in 1973 in Dushanbe. The status of this institution is a higher professional educational institution and has official licenses of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan for educational activities in the field of higher professional education, as well as a certificate of state accreditation.
History:
In 1973, by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, it was established as the Tajik State College of Arts. In 1978, it was named after Mirza Tursunzoda.
In 2003, the music faculties were separated from the structure of this institution and formed the basis of the Tajik National Conservatory.

The first dean of the faculty was Muharram Fayziev, a doctor of linguistics, and since 2020, Muhrreddin Nezami, a doctor of linguistics, has been the dean of the faculty.
