The first session of the calligraphy course was held at the ECI Library on Thursday, June 6, 2024 and attended by trainees and calligraphy enthusiasts.
During this initial session, Master Abbas Rahimi, the founder of the calligraphy style, delved into the basic principles of this art form. Topics covered included the historical evolution of calligraphy over centuries in Iranian art, the importance of maintaining calligraphic originality, proper letter and word formation, avoidance of abstraction, and the use of Quranic verses, religious themes, and speeches from prominent figures in Iranian history as spiritual elements in calligraphic works. Additionally, the discussion touched upon achieving harmony between themes and images, as well as the strategic use of colour to enhance visual appeal and align with nature. The course will consist of eight sessions, taking place every Thursday from 10:30 to 13:00 at the ECI Library.
