The first specialized session of the Latin Calligraphy course, aimed at introducing and teaching the Copperplate style, was held by Master Sattar Mokless at the Diplomatic Library of the ECO Cultural Institute.
According to the official website of the ECO Cultural Institute (ECOCI), Dr. Rakhshandeh, the Executive Manager and Head of ECOCI, stated during the opening ceremony: "Teaching this style of calligraphy to the young generation will strengthen visual and writing precision and ultimately enhance society's cultural level. I hope this step marks the beginning of students creating lasting masterpieces in the world of Latin calligraphy."
The event successfully gathered participants, including children and adults, into two separate sessions, providing a platform for teaching one of the most exquisite and practical styles of Latin calligraphy, suitable for use in artistic design.
The majority of the workshop was dedicated to the practical training of fundamental Copperplate skills. Master Mokless emphasized the delicacy and precision of the style, explaining essential techniques such as: "Basic and fundamental movements," "pen-loading and ink-handling," and "rules of thickness." These technical segments paved the way for students to master the graceful dance of the nib on the paper, demonstrating that success in this art requires discipline, repetition, and precise muscular control.
Master Sattar Mokless is a prominent and specialized calligrapher in the field of Latin calligraphy, with over two decades of professional experience and teaching. He has played a crucial role in promoting this art on an international scale. He is also recognized as the innovator of ornamental designs in both the Gothic and Copperplate scripts.
