“Pakistan Corner” Inaugurated at the National Library of Iran
The inauguration ceremony of the “Pakistan Corner” was held on 31 July 2025 (9 Mordad 1404) at the National Archives and Library of Iran, in the presence of Dr. Saad Khan, President of the ECO Cultural Institute, and Dr. Gholamreza Amirkhani, Head of the National Archives and Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute’s official news outlet, prior to the inauguration, Dr. Saad Khan met with Dr. Gholamreza Amirkhani to discuss cultural relations between the two countries. Expressing his pleasure over the allocation of a special section for Pakistani books, Dr. Saad Khan called this initiative a symbol of friendship between the two nations. He added, “We have donated over 850 books to establish the ‘Pakistan Corner’ and are ready to provide more books from Pakistan in the future.”
He further stated, “I believe that cultural diplomacy strengthens cooperation and builds greater trust in economic and political relations between countries. Dedicating this corner to Pakistan is a meaningful step toward achieving these goals.”
Dr. Amirkhani emphasized that allocating dedicated rooms or chairs to different countries is part of the National Archives and Library’s efforts to promote cultural exchange. He noted, “Iran and Pakistan share deep-rooted cultural ties, and through this initiative, Pakistani resources will be introduced to researchers and members of the library.”
Also present at the event were Dr. Reza Shahabi, Acting Deputy of the National Library; Ms. Mahshid Borjian, Advisor to the Head of the Organization and Acting Head of the Presidential, Public Relations and International Affairs Office; Ms. Samana Dawoodani, Cultural Affairs Expert for Pakistan at the ECO Cultural Institute; and Dr. Zahra Aslani, Head Librarian of the ECO Cultural Institute. The participants also toured the reading halls of the National Library and its distinguished Manuscripts Museum.
It is worth mentioning that books in the fields of humanities—including literature, poetry, fiction, and history—are now available in a dedicated Urdu section under the title “Pakistan Corner” in the National Library’s specialized books hall, accessible to all library members.
