Turkmenistan’s 34th Independence Anniversary Celebrated at ECO Cultural Institute
The 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence was commemorated on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the ECO Cultural Institute in Tehran. The event, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan, was attended by foreign ambassadors, members of Iran’s Parliament, cultural figures, and distinguished guests.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Ylyas Gayypov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Iran, welcomed the participants and highlighted his country’s achievements in political, economic, and cultural spheres. He underlined Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality, peace, and trust, and referred to the recent adoption of the Constitutional Law on the Foundations of the Policy of Peace and Trust as a milestone. The Ambassador further emphasized the value of Turkmenistan–Iran relations in the fields of politics, economy, energy, and culture, and praised the ECO Cultural Institute for its significant role in promoting Turkmen art and heritage internationally.
Following his address, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and several Iranian officials and cultural representatives delivered speeches, stressing the importance of strengthening regional cooperation within the ECO framework.
The program also featured a poetry recitation by a young Turkmen and traditional music performances that received warm applause from the audience. A cultural exhibition showcasing Turkmenistan’s heritage was held alongside the event. The celebration concluded with a reception hosted by the Embassy of Turkmenistan, where guests enjoyed authentic Turkmen cuisine and sweets, adding a warm and festive touch to the occasion.
