"Iqbal's Correspondence with Atiya Begum" Unveiled at the "Book Diplomacy with Iqbal's Spirit“ Program
The book Iqbal's Correspondence with Atiya Begum (Raqayem-e Iqbal beh Atiya Begum) was officially launched at the international conference "Book Diplomacy with Iqbal Spirit coinciding with the 33rd Iran Book Week and the commemoration days of Allama Muhammad Iqbal Lahori, with the attendance of ambassadors, high-ranking officials from ECO countries, and a gathering of poets and intellectuals.
According to the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) information portal, the gathering took place on November 12, 2025 (21 Aban 1404) at the institute's international convention hall. The event saw the presence of ambassadors and officials from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Uganda, Brazil, Romania, Switzerland, and Malaysia.
Mr. Mehrdad Rakhshandeh, Acting Head of the ECO Cultural Institute, delivered the opening speech. Subsequent speakers included Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi (Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan), Mr. Muhammad Mudassir Tippu (Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Tehran), Ms. Asmat Hassan Sial (Deputy Ambassador of Pakistan), and Dr. Mandana Tishyar (Vice-Chancellor for Research at Allameh Tabataba'i University).

 

 

The conference featured video messages from Dr. Iqbal Salahuddin (grandson of Allama Iqbal and Director of Iqbal School) and Dr. Muzaffar Ali Kashmiri (the book's translator). A special section of the event featured prominent poets from Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, including Dr. Mahmoud Ekrami-Fard, Dr. Mohammad Javad Aseman, Dr. Zahid Munir, Ahmad Shahryar, Hossein Mirzaei, and Ms. Zahra Zahedi, who recited poems by Allama Iqbal.

The event, which was directed by Dr. Zahra Aslani, concluded with a musical performance by the "Hoor" music group. Following the ceremony, guests visited a calligraphy exhibition by Master Khosro Shirchi. The conference disseminated the message of unity and Iqbal's profound thoughts through extensive media coverage, including Channel 2 of IRIB, Radio Farhang, Sahar Global Network, Book Channel, and news agencies such as IBNA, Tasnim, and Iran Press.

Iqbal's Correspondence with Atiya Begum, a collection of Allama Iqbal's letters, has been translated into Persian by Dr. Muzaffar Ali Kashmiri. Messrs. Ehsan Khazaei and Mahmoud Ali Anjum, and Ms. Hakimeh Dastrani and Ms. Rabi'eh Kiani collaborated with the translator in the preparation and printing coordination of the book.

The Persian translation was published in 2024 (1403) in 231 pages, Roghei (compact) size, by ECO Cultural Institute Publications and released to the book market.
