In 12-13 December, the International Folk Art Festival “Suzani of Panjakent” will be held in the city of Panjakent. This was reported by the Khovar News Agency with reference to the Executive Authority of Panjakent city.
The festival is organized in honor of Panjakent being included in the list of “World Craft Cities.” Within its framework, the “Suzani of Panjakent” exhibition, displays of local and international artisans, a scientific-theoretical conference, and visits to historical sites are planned.
The main events will take place at the Laiq Sherali Palace and the Panjakent Cultural Palace named after Olim Boboev.
It should be recalled that in October of this year, Panjakent was officially recognized by the “World Crafts Council” as a “World Craft City for Embroidery.”
This initiative reflects the elegance of craftsmanship and the ancient traditions of embroidery, which are deeply rooted in the history of the ancient city of Panjakent.
The “World Crafts Council” is affiliated with UNESCO and works to develop the economic sector through handicrafts, support artisans, and promote cooperation. The organization recognizes cities active in preserving craft heritage as “World Craft Cities".
