The First Woman Poet with a Collected Divan in Persian and Tajik Literature” Will Be Held
In June of this year, an international scientific conference will be held in Dushanbe to mark the 1050th anniversary of the birth of Rabia Balkhi.
According to an announcement by the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the program of the event has been approved and includes a series of academic and cultural activities. These include an exhibition of the works of Rabia Balkhi and other Tajik women poets from ancient times to the present, a theatrical performance entitled “Rabia Balkhi”, and the organization of literary gatherings and seminars in various cities and districts of the country on topics such as “Rabia Balkhi and Women Poets of the Kulob Literary Circle,” “Rabia Balkhi and Women Poets and Artists of Baljuvon,” “Rabia Balkhi — The Voice of Love,” and “Rabia Balkhi — The Image of the Tajik Woman Poet.”
It is noteworthy that in 2025, during the 43rd session of the General Conference of UNESCO, the 1050th anniversary of Rabia Balkhi was inscribed on UNESCO’s list of commemorations for 2026–2027.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, also emphasized in his address to the Supreme Assembly (December 16, 2025) that the adoption of this resolution by UNESCO demonstrates the distinguished place of Tajik cultural and spiritual heritage and values within world civilization.
