Book corners dedicated to 19 countries of the world have been established at the National Library of Tajikistan, where citizens can familiarize themselves with the history, culture, and national traditions of these countries. This was stated by the Director of the Library, Lutfiya Abdukholiqzoda, during the افتتاح (opening) ceremony of the “Pakistan Book Corner.”
According to Khovar, the “Pakistan Book Corner” was created within the framework of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan at the National Library.
The corner has been enriched with a large number of books, magazines, and other informational materials. It includes works related to Pakistan’s history, culture, literature, art, and socio-economic development.
Materials in this section are presented in various languages and are accessible to a wide range of readers. This initiative provides researchers, students, and other interested individuals with the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about the country.
Lutfiya Abdukholiqzoda noted that this corner was established within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries and as part of the scientific and cultural cooperation between the National Library of Tajikistan and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Tajikistan.
It was reported that the National Library of Tajikistan maintains effective cooperation with more than 60 institutions of international organizations and 20 renowned libraries worldwide. Additionally, the library has signed memoranda of understanding with 16 foreign libraries.
She added: “The institution will continue to take effective measures to expand cooperation with libraries and scientific and cultural institutions both domestically and internationally. The development of productive partnerships, implementation of joint programs and projects, exchange of advanced experience, and use of modern information technologies are among the priority areas of the library’s activities. Such cooperation creates favorable conditions for enriching the library’s collections, improving service quality, and promoting a culture of reading in society.”
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Tajikistan, Irfan Ahmad, stated that expanding cooperation in librarianship, exchange of literature, and development of joint programs among cultural institutions can contribute to raising public awareness and strengthening friendship between nations. Special attention to the role of libraries as key educational centers plays an important role in shaping young people’s worldview and educating future generations.
Tajikistan and Pakistan share rich historical and cultural ties, and their cooperation continues to grow year by year. The establishment of such cultural spaces enables readers and researchers to become more closely acquainted with the history, literature, culture, and modern achievements of Pakistan.
The creation of such corners is considered an important form of cultural diplomacy and contributes to strengthening interstate relations. In the context of modern globalization processes, enhancing cultural and educational ties between countries has gained increasing importance, providing a foundation for mutual understanding and respect for national values.
