On May 1, 2026, in Dushanbe, issues related to expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan in the fields of labor and vocational training were discussed.
According to the report, the meeting between the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan, Soleha Kholmahmadzoda, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Tajikistan, Irfan Ahmad, focused on organizing short-term vocational training courses for citizens of Tajikistan. These courses are planned to be conducted within educational institutions under the Ministry of Labor, with the involvement of Pakistani specialists in areas such as textiles, leather processing, and other industrial sectors.
The parties also emphasized the importance of attracting investment for the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises based on the State Institution “Center for the Development of Crafts and Modern Professional Skills” and its branches, including modern vocational training and service centers.
It was noted that the Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation is considered one of the key mechanisms for strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
It was recalled that at the beginning of 2026, the Pakistani side proposed a draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the labor sector. This document covers key areas of collaboration, including facilitating workforce mobility in line with labor market demands of both countries, exchange of experience, professional development of specialists, and cooperation in labor inspection, workplace safety, and occupational health.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to further expand and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.
