The international festival and competition “Ushshoqi Rahmoni” was held on May 12, 2026, in Sughd Province of the Republic of Tajikistan on the occasion of Shashmaqom Day. The cultural event brought together artists, musicians, and researchers of traditional music from several countries, including Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and France.
During the festival, participants performed authentic Shashmaqom compositions and various artistic programs, emphasizing the importance of preserving and safeguarding the shared musical heritage of the region. Organizers stated that the main objective of the festival is to promote cultural cooperation, introduce traditional Tajik music, and pass this valuable art form on to younger generations.
Recognized as one of the masterpieces of classical and traditional Tajik music, Shashmaqom has been inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage list of UNESCO and holds a special place in the culture and arts of Tajikistan and Persian-speaking nations.
