In continuation of its “Art and War” event series, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art has unveiled an exhibition featuring selected masterpieces from its collection of modern and pop art, exploring the impact of wars and contemporary crises on global art.
The second chapter of the exhibition presents 11 works by four major figures of Spanish modernism, including Pablo Picasso, Antoni Tàpies, Juan Gris, and Robert Motherwell. These works offer profound artistic reflections on war, violence, anxiety, and human resilience within modern European and international art.
Earlier, the first chapter of the series showcased works by renowned American pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and Robert Indiana, focusing on artistic responses to war and global crises.
At a time when artistic and cultural spaces are gradually returning to public life, this exhibition highlights the role of museums as spaces for cultural dialogue, historical reflection, and the preservation of human connection — where art continues to transcend political boundaries and remain a shared language of memory and humanity.
The “Art and War” exhibition will continue at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art until 19 May
