Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development 2018–2028,” the International Forum “Women and Water–2026” officially opened in Dushanbe. The event has brought together government officials, representatives of international organizations, scientific and legal institutions, and development finance organizations.
Dilrabo Mansuri, Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan, stated that the main objective of the forum is to create an international platform aimed at reducing inequalities in the water sector, strengthening women’s participation in decision-making, and expanding their role in innovation and financing of water-related projects.
The forum’s panel discussions focus on issues such as financial support for women entrepreneurs, the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in water resource management, integrating gender equality into water policies, glacier protection, and regional cooperation.
Among the key expected outcomes of the event are the adoption of the “Dushanbe Declaration: Women and Water” and the launch of the “Women and Water” partnership network. The forum will continue until May 28 alongside the ongoing international water conference in Dushanbe.
