DUSHANBE, June 6, 2026 — The establishment of a joint industrial park between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was discussed during a meeting between the industry ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of Industry Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral industrial cooperation.
The two sides emphasized that industrial cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran is entering a new phase, moving beyond traditional trade toward deeper manufacturing collaboration, technological integration, and industrial development.
Within the framework of the 2025–2027 Cooperation Action Plan, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation, including the establishment of textile clusters based on Tajik cotton and Iranian technologies, joint projects in metallurgy and mineral processing, the production of agricultural machinery, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology products, construction materials, chemical industry products, as well as coal processing.
A key topic of the discussions was the draft Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a joint industrial park in Tajikistan, which is expected to promote joint investment and strengthen industrial production cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers also highlighted the importance of developing logistics infrastructure, facilitating trade and transportation, and utilizing digital technologies and artificial intelligence in industrial management and development.
