“Masal Masal Türkiye”: A Digital Journey into Anatolia’s Oral Heritage
Tehran – 10 August 2026 — The “Masal Masal Türkiye” application is bringing Türkiye’s rich oral and literary heritage into the digital sphere by making a collection of traditional tales gathered from different regions of Anatolia accessible to new generations and audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Developed within the framework of the Turkish Tales Collection (TÜMAK), the application provides the collected tales in eight languages: English, German, Arabic, Persian, Japanese, Russian, French, and Spanish. Users can both read the tales and listen to their audio narrations.
The inclusion of Persian among the available languages offers Persian-speaking audiences an opportunity to explore Türkiye’s oral traditions and literary heritage through its rich repertoire of folk tales. These narratives, beyond their literary and cultural value, reflect elements of collective cultural memory and provide valuable avenues for intercultural understanding.
The initiative also offers a meaningful platform for strengthening cultural dialogue between Türkiye and Iran, two countries with a long history of cultural, literary, and civilizational interaction. Through traditional narratives and storytelling, audiences can discover cultural connections and shared themes that have evolved across the region over centuries.
By harnessing digital technologies, “Masal Masal Türkiye” contributes to the preservation, transmission, and wider dissemination of intangible cultural heritage, while creating new opportunities for younger generations and international audiences to engage with the storytelling traditions of Anatolia.
