Tehran – August 2026 — The 11th issue of “ECONameh,” the electronic monthly publication of the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), has been published, focusing on cultural heritage, cultural events, and regional interactions among the Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
This issue, adopting a cultural and regional approach, is structured in four sections covering the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of ECO Member States, recent activities and programmes of the ECO Cultural Institute, a special feature on Kyrgyzstan, and major cultural events and developments across the region.
Section One: Cultural Heritage of ECO Member States
The first section presents a collection of articles on the cultural heritage of ECO Member States, ranging from traditional glassmaking in Herat, gemstones of Afghanistan, and the historic Khoda Afarin Bridges to Shahr-e Sukhteh, Bisotun, the Gonbad-e Qabus, and the historical and artistic heritage of the countries of Central Asia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Section Two: Events and Recent Activities of the ECO Cultural Institute
The second section focuses on the cultural events and recent activities of the ECO Cultural Institute, featuring reports on the Institute’s activities, meetings, collaborations, and recent visits, including the publication of the special issue “Cultural Policies in ECO Member States” and diplomatic and cultural meetings with representatives of various countries.
Section Three: Special Feature on Kyrgyzstan
The third section features a special dossier entitled “Kyrgyzstan: From the Epic of Manas to Cultural Diplomacy in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)”, exploring subjects including the Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan and the country’s cultural diplomacy capacities.
Section Four: Cultural Events and News from the ECO Region
The fourth section reviews cultural events, programmes, and news from across the ECO region, covering a range of developments in the Member States, including the inscription of heritage sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, cultural and artistic festivals, and developments in cinema, music, literature, and other cultural programmes across the region.
“ECONameh” is published with the aim of reflecting the cultural activities of the ECO Cultural Institute, introducing the shared heritage of the region, and providing a platform for dialogue and interaction among scholars, artists, and those interested in culture. The 11th issue likewise emphasizes mutual understanding, cultural diversity, and the strengthening of regional cooperation, in line with the cultural mission of the ECO Cultural Institute.
