Tehran – 16 Shahrivar 1405 (September 7, 2026) – The photo exhibition “Tajikistan on the Path of Growth and Prosperity” was officially opened on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the ECO Cultural Institute, in the presence of prominent diplomatic, academic, cultural and artistic figures.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Nizamuddin Zahedi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Tehran, and diplomatic representatives, scholars, artists, and cultural activists.
At the beginning of the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Hassan, Head of the ECO Cultural Institute, welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of the exhibition in presenting contemporary Tajikistan and strengthening cultural ties among the countries of the region.
He described the exhibition as more than a collection of photographs, noting that the works on display offer a visual narrative of the people, cultural heritage, identity and landscapes of Tajikistan, as well as the country’s journey of development and progress.
The Head of the ECO Cultural Institute highlighted the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan as a reflection of the importance attached to cultural cooperation and Tajikistan’s commitment to strengthening relations among the peoples of the region.
Ambassador Mohammad Hassan also emphasized Tajikistan’s efforts to pursue development while preserving and promoting its cultural identity and heritage. He noted that the exhibition presents a picture of the connection between Tajikistan’s past, present and future, bringing together contemporary architecture with historical monuments, traditional clothing and customs with modern life, and natural landscapes with rapidly developing cities.
Referring to Tajikistan’s deep historical and cultural ties with the civilizations of the region, he highlighted Rudaki, the richness of Persian poetry, and shared cultural heritage as elements of the longstanding bonds among the peoples of the region. He also emphasized the role of culture and the arts in bringing the peoples of the region closer together.
The Head of the ECO Cultural Institute expressed hope that the exhibition would contribute to deeper mutual understanding, stronger friendship, and closer cultural ties among the peoples of the ECO region.
Following the remarks, Dr. Nizamuddin Zahedi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Tehran, delivered his speech.
Referring to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, to be celebrated on September 9, 2026, he spoke about the country’s historical journey over the past three decades and its achievements and developments on the path toward growth and prosperity.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan also described the exhibition as an opportunity to present a picture of contemporary Tajikistan and introduce the country’s cultural, historical and natural capacities.
According to Ambassador Zahedi, the exhibition features various aspects of Tajikistan in sections dedicated to customs and traditions, architecture, nature, and tourism attractions. Together, the photographs offer visitors a visual and virtual journey through different parts of the country.
The official opening ceremony was subsequently held, followed by a tour of the exhibition by the guests.
The photo exhibition “Tajikistan on the Path of Growth and Prosperity” presents images of different aspects of life, culture, heritage, architecture, nature and tourism in Tajikistan, offering visitors a portrait of a country committed to preserving its cultural identity while moving toward development and the future.
Held at the ECO Cultural Institute on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence, the exhibition provides an opportunity to showcase the country’s cultural capacities and represents a step toward deepening cultural relations and strengthening interaction among the Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
The exhibition will be open to the public for viewing until Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
