ECI and Uzbekistan Explore Cultural Tourism Cooperation
Tashkent, 16 September 2026 — The ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) explored potential avenues of cooperation with the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan in the field of cultural tourism during a meeting held in Tashkent as part of the official visit of ECI President H.E. Ambassador Muhammad Hassan to Uzbekistan.
Ambassador Hassan visited the Tourism Products Department of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, where he met with Mr. Mirtolib Mirzakhidov, Head of the Uzbekistan Convention Bureau. ECI Assistant Director Dr. Ahmet Akalın accompanied the ECI President during the meeting.
The discussions focused on identifying opportunities for joint initiatives aimed at promoting the shared cultural and civilizational heritage of the ECO region through cultural tourism.
The participants exchanged views on potential projects highlighting the historical legacy of prominent figures, including Ali-Shir Nava’i and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, whose cultural contributions form an important part of the region’s shared heritage.
The meeting also explored opportunities to develop cultural tourism initiatives that showcase the rich historical and cultural assets of the ECO region to international audiences. In this context, the participants discussed the potential role of social media users and influencers in promoting the region’s cultural heritage and enhancing its visibility among wider audiences.
