The President of the ECO Cultural Institute (ECI), H.E. Ambassador Muhammad Hassan, visited the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages (UzSWLU) in Tashkent on 17 September 2026, as part of his visit to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Muhammad Hassan met with Prof. Dr. Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of UzSWLU, and Khusan Yuldashev, Head of International Relations. ECI Assistant Director Dr. Ahmet Akalın also attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation in education, languages, literature, culture, scientific research and academic exchange. H.E. Ambassador Muhammad Hassan briefed the participants on ECI’s activities in promoting the languages, literatures and arts of the ECO Member States, as well as its work in media literacy, research on the region’s shared historical and cultural heritage, and the development of scientific and creative projects.
He highlighted ECI’s research on the hundreds of languages and dialects spoken across the ECO Region and its efforts to develop related linguistic databases. He also outlined the Institute’s initiatives to translate and publish literary and scholarly works in the languages of ECO Member States.
At the conclusion of the meeting, ECI and the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement establishes a framework for strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two institutions, promoting the linguistic and cultural diversity of the ECO Region, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
