ECI and Iran Music House Commence Cooperation
In line with the objectives envisaged in the charter of ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) to enhance relationship among the people of the region, with a focus on the culture, art, literature and traditional music of the member countries, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked on Wednesday, April 25th 2018 between ECI and Iran Music House.

According to ECI Public Relations, in the MoU signed by Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, President of ECO Cultural Institute and Hamid Reza Nourbakhsh, Director of Iran Music House, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in joint activities including implementing research projects and holding festivals in the ECO region.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Mazaheri, referred to art, especially music, as a key component of cultural diplomacy and stated: "Music can be a milestone in the expansion of regional friendships." The ECI president also expressed hope that through cooperation between the two sides, ECI would further enhance activities in the field of music.

Mr. Hamid Reza Nourbakhsh, also welcomed bilateral cooperation as per mutual interest and said: "Unfortunately, in the past, the capacity of ECI as this international Institute in music has not been widely used, but I am confident that during the tenure of Dr. Mazaheri, this problem will be resolved." Director of Iran Music House also expressed his thanks to ECI president for his attention to the commonalties of the member countries in fields of culture and music and reiterated: "Iran Music House will provide support within its fullest capacity for the implementation of the provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding."

It is worth mentioning that ECO Cultural Institute has already carried out several music activities including traditional music performances by Kazakh folk ensemble Sari Agha in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Contemporary Arts, and Turkish folk ensemble in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute, hosting the research section of Fajr Music Festival, and organizing folk music festival in cooperation with Iran`s Music Society in Kerman.
