In order to promote scientific cooperation among ECO member states, a lecture on "Scientific Diplomacy and Innovation" by Dr. Ali Akbar Mousavi Movahedi, an Iranian distinguished scholar at the University of Tehran was held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Diplomatic Conference Hall of ECO Cultural Institute
According to ECI Public Relations, at the meeting attended by Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, President of ECO Cultural Institute and some scientific and cultural figures of the country, Dr. Mousavi Movahedi emphasized on the need for cultural and scientific activities among countries and the role of scientific diplomacy in the development of international relations.
He further illustrated the role of such diplomacy in strengthening friendship among nations and stated: "The diplomacy of science and technology plays a major role in the creation of regional and international relationship. Thanks to science and technology, such diplomacy can deal with conflicts as occurring between nations at the lowest cost. In other words, cultural and scientific diplomacy promote a moderate approach to political relations. "
It is worth mentioning that a MoU signed earlier between the University of Tehran and ECO Cultural Institute with an aim to protect the rich cultural heritage shared by ECO countries, to expand cultural, artistic, academic, and research interactions in the region, to restore Islamic science and civilization and to promote it through the Islamic world.
