A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ECO Cultural Institute and Kharazmi University was signed on Sunday, May 13th 2018 between Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, ECI president and Dr. Naveh Ebrahim head of Kharazmi University.
Dr. Mazaheri, at the meeting, expressed his pleasure to cooperate with Kharazmi University and emphasized that "public diplomacy can play an important role at a time when peace has been diminished", ECI Public Relations reported.
He continued: "Universities should be at the forefront of public diplomacy in the region and throughout the world." While highlighting several MoUs signed with academic centers in this regard, Dr. Mazaheri also added: "The universities should use the global and regional capacities of ECO Cultural Institute to advance the interest of academic and public diplomacy.
Dr. Naveh Ebrahim, head of Kharazmi University, also welcomed Dr. Mazaheri and the delegation, saying: "The wider vision of ECI President provides universities with an opportunity to expand scientific and cultural activities across the country.
He provided the meeting with a brief history of the university and added: "This year, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Kharazmi University, we have planned several programs and we would like to hold the international sections at ECO Cultural Institute."
Head of Kharazmi University concluded his speech, welcomed the formation of a joint executive committee between the university and ECI, and announced that in 2018 the university would provide scholarships for the candidates from ECO region.
