On July 12, 2018, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Mahdi Mazaheri and Ayatollah Sayyid Hassan Khomeini between ECI and Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works.
According to ECI Public Relations, in his remarks, Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri emphasized on the promotion of cultural commonalities as the main axis for the realization of the objectives of this international organization and added: "The promotion of Imam Khomeini's thoughts across the ECO region could serve as the best platform for the development of brotherhood and peace among the nations".
"Today, we live in the age of public diplomacy among world nations and cultural, international institutions hold an exclusive status in this field", he further noted.
While honoring the memory of Imam Khomeini, the ECI President went on to say: "We take the presence of Mr. Sayyid Hassan Khomeini in this international institution and signing an MoU for joint cooperation as a good omen and hope it is the harbinger of future accomplishments".
Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Sayyid Hassan Khomeini highlighted the lofty position of 'interaction' in today's world and particularly among the ECO Member States and added: "Today, the promotion of a favorable atmosphere for dialogue among the regional nations is imperative".
Further at the meeting, the caretaker of Imam Khomeini's Shrine talked about the position of 'Islamic Brotherhood' in the thoughts of the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stated: "ECO Cultural Institute has a key and historic role to play in this sensitive era for the promotion of cultural commonalities and opening avenues of dialogue among the ten ECO Member States".
While praising the efforts made by Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri in leading the Institute to its true standing among the Member States as well as the international arena, Ayatollah Khomeini said: "Helping the realization of the lofty aims and objectives of the ECO Cultural Institute must be considered top priority activity".
Elsewhere at the meeting, Dr. Hamid Ansari and Dr. Moghaddam, the Deputy of the Head of the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works in international affairs, delivered speeches that were followed by the signing of MoU by the heads of the two cultural, international institutions.
