The second in the series of sessions titled 'System of Peace Culture' was held at the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) featuring the presence of officials, artists and cultural figures working in the field of cinema to discuss the subject of 'Cinema and its impact on peace'.
According to ECI Public Relations, at the meeting Ms. Maria Dotsenko, the Director of UNIC office in Tehran, welcomed the participants and read out the message of the UN Secretary General on the occasion of World Youth Day.
Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, the ECI President, was the next speaker to deliver a speech underscoring the role of arts in the manifestation of peace among nations and added: "Culture paves the way of communications among nations through two mediums of arts and literature". He further read a verse from Hakim Ferdowsi, the renowned Persian poet, on the subject and pointed to the birth of wars during the times of split up among nations. "The footprints of peace in the ECO Region testifies to the fact that the nations and cultures could easily interact with poets and artists", he continued.
The third speaker of the event was Mr. Alireza Pakdaman, the Director-General of Public Diplomacy of I.R.I. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who elaborated upon the relation of public diplomacy with arts.
Afterwards, Dr. Tayyebeh Mohammad, the secretary of the event, summarized the previous speeches and presented a comprehensive report on the previous editions of 'System of Peace Culture' sessions for the participants.
Elsewhere at the program, the head of Youth Cinema Association, some film directors as well as the editor of news section of Mehr News Agency delivered speeches on the subject of cinema and peace.
During the third part of the event, a video clip on the theme of the meeting was screened followed by discussions on the issue of behavioral psychology, cinema, propaganda and peace.
During the program, organized on the occasion of World Youth Day, Ms. Melika Sadegh Zadeh, who had previously been awarded the title of the youngest author of the year 2018 and is a member of Peace and Friendship Ambassadors Group, recited a piece in 5 languages which was welcomed by the participants. At the end of the session, Mr. Amir Sadeghi made his remarks on the role of arts and literature with the establishment of peace and friendship in the form of poetry.
The next session in the series is slated to be held on September 25, 2018 in the United Nations Information Center.
