Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, ECI President, visited Dari Kandeh in Mazandaran province, the birthplace of Mokarrarmeh Qanbari, a self-taught painter in the village.
Ms. Qanbari began to paint her house in her middle ages, and while educating her own children, she encourages other village inhabitants to do so.
Accompanied by the Governor of Babol, the Director General of the Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance and a group of officials and artists from Mazandaran province, Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri spoke at the visit to the self-taught artist and said: "Art is one of the most effective mediums of cultural communication in public diplomacy and the ECO region is a vibrant center of art. Therefore, all branches of art such as painting, music, calligraphy, etc. are the reflections of the philosophy and wisdom of the people of this vast territory. With the assistance of the officials and esteemed residents of this village, the potentials of this area could be presented to other countries while we try to recognize similar villages in other member states". The trip concluded with a visit to Amoo Norouz museum.
