With the presence of Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri and some of the internationally acclaimed figures from Iran and other countries, the International Conference ‘Shahnameh along the Silk Road' was opened on May 13, 2019 at Mashhad City Council Hall.
According to ECI public relations, at the conference held with the cooperation of the province's Directorate for cultural heritage, Ferdowsi University, Mashhad City Council and municipality and the support of the UNESCO Cluster Office and the ECO Cultural Institute, many literary figures from Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Switzerland, Poland, Russia and Turkey participated some of whom presented articles related to the conference theme.
In a part of his speech, Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, pointed to the fact that the Shahnameh has served as the source for many scholars who sought knowledge regarding the of Iranian ancestors and added: "At the ECO Cultural Institute, it is a while that we have embarked upon a project called "The Silk Road, The Way to Peace", because we are of the opinion that the Silk Road did not just serve as the road for the merchants, but also the scholars, artists and authors have traveled this path, and Iran was the connecting point for these cultural and artistic interactions."
"Therefore, I suggest that the countries along the Silk Road seek establishing a specific union for themselves and we, at the ECO region, that constitutes most of the countries along the road, will support this idea", he continued.
At the conference, participated by Dr. Yahaghi, the secretary of the conference, Dr. Mazaheri, Dr. Qiamati and some members of the city council plus other guests, the book of conference proceedings and Shahnameh documentary film were launched.
