On May 19, 2019, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, ECI President, had Iftar with a group of diplomats and a group of members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly who were members of the ECO Fraction.
According to ECI public relations, this Iftar ceremony was attended by ambassadors of Islamic countries such as Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan and representatives of diplomatic missions stationed in Tehran including Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Algeria, along with Dr. Mazaheri, president of the ECO Cultural Institute. At the event, some members of ECO fraction at the Islamic Consultative Assembly deliberated upon the potential plans and programs to expand relations between ECO member states.
It is worth noting that the ECO fraction was established for the first time in 2018 through the initiative of Dr. Mazaheri, the ECI president, with more than 170 MPs at the Islamic Consultative Assembly and supported by Dr. Ali Larijani, the Parliament Speaker.
