On Tuesday August 27, 2019, Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, ECI president, met Mr. Cvetan Cvetkovski, the new director of UNESCO Cluster Office, at the UNESCO headquarters in Tehran.
According to ECI news, while referring to the background of joint cooperation of UNESCO cluster office as well as the UN office in Tehran with ECI, Dr. Mazaheri highlighted the common missions of ECI and UNESCO and pointed to some of them saying: The second International workshop on "Museum Environment and Preventive Conservation - On the Way to the Green Museum" to be held in collaboration with the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization; the first meeting of the heads of ECO national museums to be held in collaboration with the National Museum of Iran and Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization; Development of geoparks in the region and Iran, especially Qeshm geopark, registered in UNESCO, along with the granting joint cultural awards, holding Sound of Peace and System of Peace programs as together with an international conference on women in collaboration with the Iranology Foundation, are among the potential projects to be planned joint with UNESCO office in Tehran."
In conclusion, he expressed hope that these programs could help promote peace and peaceful coexistence among the regional countries.
Further at the meeting, Mr. Cvetan Cvetkovski expressed his pleasure on meeting with Dr. Mazaheri, ECI president, and said: "UNESCO's main mission is to promote peace through education, culture and science, and UNESCO is ready to further cooperate with ECI in this framework".
Continuing his remarks, Mr. Cvetan Cvetkovski talked on the future programs of UNESCO for the next month and said: "UNESCO has planned to hold four events such as the Regional Meeting on Conservation of Cultural Heritage, the 6th Meeting for the Silk Road's Joint Registration, the Conference on Dialogue Between the Silk Road Religions as well as the technical meeting for developing the interactive program "Religion, Culture and Spirituality" will be held in the framework of the Silk Road project in Hamadan".
While expressing hope to receive ECI's support and cooperation to hold this important event, he invited the ECI president to participate in the program's inaugural along with other diplomats and Iranian senior officials.
In conclusion, Mr. Cvetkovski announced the full readiness of the UNESCO office in Tehran to further expand cooperation with the EO Cultural Institute.
