The president and members of the board of directors of the House of Theater met with Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, ECI president, at the venue of the international organization.
According to ECI news, at the meeting held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri pointed to the historical background of ECO region and the role of arts and culture in the region adding: "In today's world conditions, paying attention to cultural diplomacy is more important than ever before".
"We have formed various unions in the fields of books, media, film and cyberspace, and the proposal to establish ECO Theater House is also important," said the ECI president while appreciating the proposal of cooperation rendered by Theater House.
Dr. Shahram Gilabadi, director of the theater house, also requested for ECI's cooperation, saying: "The presence of Dr. Mazaheri at the president of this international organization has provided a great opportunity for expanding the cooperation and interaction between Iranian theater and the ECO region."
Speaking at the meeting, Behzad Farahani, a prominent artist and member of the board of directors of the Theater House, said: "We are cultural kins of all ECO nations but unfortunately, we haven't established proper artistic relationship with each other so far".
Elsewhere at the meeting, Asghar Hemmat, another cinema and theater actor, and a member of the board of directors of the Theater House, stated: "The shared culture of the ECO countries has created a great opportunity for artistic collaboration, especially in the field of theater."
Concluding the meeting, Dadgar and Ghaleh from Theater House as well as Moshiri, Mahmoudi and Ismail Tabar of the ECO Cultural Institute expressed their views on the need to hold joint festivals, using the common epics, playwriting and introduction of the regional luminaries such as Iqbal in the Iranian theater.
