The 2nd International ECO-Peace Congress was held at ECI headquarters in October 2019, participated by Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Mazaheri, President of ECO Cultural Institute; Representatives of the Embassies of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and ECO Secretariat; Vakili, member of board of directors of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, a number of former military chiefs plus diplomats and other guests.
At the program, Dr. Mazaheri delivered a speech on the importance of peace and security on the economic and political development of world nations. He also emphasized on the differences between 'positive peace' and 'imposed peace' and said: "The Peace Charter of Koroush, intellect of Saadi and Love of Molana are the best representations of positive peace in today world'.
He further pointed to ECI activities in the field of peace including ECO Peace Farm, ECO Peace Stamp and ECO Peace Apparel which have been carried out with the collaboration of the representatives of UN, embassies of member countries and residing diplomats.
Elsewhere at the event, Dr. Mohammad Ali Vakili, member of board of directors of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, appreciated the efforts made by the ECI president in the field of peace and his special attention towards this subject.
Eng. Rahimi, CEO of House of Soldier of Peace, also appreciated ECI's cooperation to promote the culture of peace and cooperation in the field of sports and peace promotion and obtaining the permission for the establishment of Peace News Agency. He concluded his remarks expressing his gratitude to the ECO Cultural Institute and its president as well as members of the House of Soldier of Peace and expressed hope for the institutionalization of a culture of peace, friendship and kindness.
Also at the program, the President of the Boxing Council presented two medals to the military chiefs Habib Baqai and Ahmad Dadbin on behalf of World Boxing Federation.
It is noteworthy the event concluded with proffering an award to Dr. Mazaheri for his efforts to promote the culture of peace, and the congress statement was also delivered.
