New ECI President Meets Iranian Foreign Office Official
H.E. Sarvar Bakhti, the new President of the ECO Cultural Institute paid a courtesy call, as his first official meeting, on H.E. Majid Bizmark, the Director General of the Multilateral and International Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the meeting, the two sides warmly declared their readiness to promote the position of the Institute. While thanking the support of the host country, ECI new President outlined his plans for his tenure and stressed that during the tenure, greater efforts would be made to increase the membership of the ECO Cultural Institute. He noted that taking into account the many capacities and areas of cooperation among the ECO countries, the Institute is planning to organize a wide variety of programs including cultural, artistic, literary exchange, academic cooperation and tourism promotion that will be in line with the activities of the former presidents of the Institute.

Bizmark also congratulated Bakhti on his assumption as the new President of ECI and emphasized that out of more than 16 ECO affiliated bodies, the Cultural Institute has managed to earn a special position among the elites and cultural circles.

Furthermore, Bizmark pointed out that the development of programs in the areas of cinema, national and local cuisine, customs and traditions, music, and so on can be effective in strengthening ties among the nations of the ECO region.

The inauguration ceremony of the new President of the ECO Cultural Institute is scheduled to be held in the coming days at ECI's Headquarters in Tehran and be participated by some high level officials of the host country, the ambassadors of the ECO Member States and other diplomatic missions as well as culture enthusiasts and artists.
