H.E. Mr. Sarvar Bakhti, the newly-appointed president of the ECO Cultural Institute, met with Ms. Boroujerdi, Deputy Iranian President and Director of Iran National Library and Archives.
According to ECI public relations, at the meeting the ECI president stated that Iran National Library is one of the foremost centers of knowledge not only across the region but the world and that all are well familiar with the proper administration of this organization. He then pointed out to the previous programs conducted jointly by ECI and Iran National Library and expressed hope that such cooperation shall continue in the years to come.
Further at the meeting, Mr. Boroujerdi congratulated the ECI president on his appointment and wished him success. She then continued her remarks saying that the convening of the meeting of heads of National libraries of ECO member states in Tajikistan proved that culture may serve the purpose of regional cooperation just like politics. Moreover, she expressed readiness for devising joint programs with ECO Cultural Institute and reiterated that sharing resources and organizing scientific, cultural conferences could contribute to the promotion of cultural relations among the nations of the ECO region.
The meeting concluded with the both sides agreeing upon making plans to expand scientific, cultural and digital exchanges among the libraries of the ten ECO member states.
