UNESCO Designates 'Lahore' as a Creative City in Literature
Lahore has been designated as a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network along with 65 other cities of the world, ECI public relations quoted nation.com.pk as saying.

According to dailytimes.com.pk, seven consecutive years of the Lahore Literary Festival has fostered a community of book-lovers to come in closer range of writers and poets.

In October 2019, 66 cities have been designated as UNESCO Creative Cities by the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay. "All over the world, these cities, each in its way, make culture the pillar, not an accessory, of their strategy," she said adding: "This favours political and social innovation and is particularly important for the young generations."

The Creative Cities Network brings together cities that base their development on creativity, whether in music, arts and folk crafts, design, cinema, literature, digital arts or gastronomy.
