Considered as a social art and an effective medium contributing to self-realization and intellectual growth of the public, cinema favors a lofty position in Tajikistan and is taken as a mirror reflecting the national culture. 'Tajik Film' and 'Tajik Kino' Studios and the governmental 'Tajik Film' institute follow the government's policies in the field of cinema.
According to the same website, during the last recent years, cinema has grown significantly in the country and several artistic films have been produced which were warmly welcomed by national and foreign audience.
Movies such as 'Unravished Mirror', 'While Sparrow', 'Monkey's Sleep', 'Teacher', 'Balloon', 'Taxi', 'Conflict' and 'Endeavor' have won prizes at international film festivals. The growth and development of cinema in the years to come is one of the priorities of the country's policy and the person of the president himself.
