Fifteen New Historical Sites Identified in Meshginshahr
The head of Meshginshahr's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts department said that 15 new historical sites have been discovered in this province.

According to ECI public relations quoting IRNA, Imanali Imani said that these historical sites contain more than 40,000 petroglyphs, unique to the northwest of the country. He then went on to say: "The petroglyphs identified in Meshginshahr contain several motifs such as animal, human and plant patterns as well as symbolic and geometric shapes. Petroglyphs are among the oldest historical artworks of human beings and some of the petroglyphs found in Iran date back to 40,000 years".
Meshginshahr province is located 90 kilometers to the north-west of Ardabil and is host to several historical monuments such as Qahqaheh Castle, Qanli Boulaq caravanserai, Seyed Soleiman Fakhrabad tomb, Kohneh Qala (the old fortress) and some historical baths. Tens of historical objects as well as archaeological site known as the Yeri city featuring astonishing stone statues dating back to around 8,000 years are located in this area.
